Focus on technology

Volusia County’s ATC Entrepreneurial Center in Daytona Beach provides interim office space for targeted fledgling technology-based companies and those companies transitioning to the community. It includes an array of on-site services to assist them in their start-up and daily developmental needs.

The Entrepreneurial Center
Housed within the new $31-million Advanced Technology Center (ATC) facility, the 6,000- square-foot Entrepreneurial Center can provide temporary space, or transitional working space for a business during its initial start-up or relocation period. The Center provides start-up operations with specialized on-site training supported by the Advanced Technology Center, the Workforce Development Board of Flagler and Volusia Counties, and personnel from the Volusia County Department of Economic Development, the Daytona Beach Community College’s (DBCC) Small Business Development Center, and SCORE (Counselors to America’s Small Business). Daily management of the site and all resources are conducted by the Volusia County Department of Economic Development.

Best suited for
The Entrepreneurial Center focuses onstart-up companies developing machining and manufacturing technologies, or those that are computer or information technology based. Young similarly-directed companies relocating from other parts of the country are welcome. The ATC offers training in first class computer labs and has a well equipped machine shop that can be used, with arrangements, for additional staff training for the start-ups or for first stage manufacturing prototyping.

A series of private offices and work areas are available to entrepreneurs within the Entrepreneurial Center. Offices are available on an annual lease basis and are renewable for up too three years. Office spaces are equipped with furniture, filing cabinets, a copying support center, and conference room facilities.

As a tenant of the Center, there is also access to the following:

  • T1 high speed communications lines available
  • conference rooms
  • training rooms
  • computer labs
  • fully equipped machine shop

The Volusia County Department of Economic Development and its partners: DBCC Small Business Development Center, SCORE, and the Volusia/Flagler County School Districts, have created a small business center to support new, emerging technology entrepreneurs. Integration of the talents and services of staff (most of whom are on-site) from the above mentioned groups creates an atmosphere both nurturing and energizing to new technology-based businesses. It’s a place you’ll want to be.

Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC) In addition to counseling and mentoring available from the various participating organizations, the Entrepreneurial Center is also home to the region’s PTAC. The Center is designed to provide technical assistance to those companies seeking opportunities to sell technologies, services or products to the state and the federal government.

Approved businesses can lease office space, when available and based on floor space, for as little as $150 a month for periods of one year and renewable for up to three years.
