Who we are/what we do for our community

As part of our overall mission, we provide assistance at no cost to businesses with the desire and potential for growth in Volusia County.  The Division of Economic Development can help start-ups, second stage or maturing businesses directly or refer owners to other qualified organizations. Volusia County’s Division of Economic Development and our partners are here to guide and support your efforts throughout all phases of your business growth.

Our staff is ready to assist entrepreneurs with:

  • Business plan development
  • Development of mailing lists to targeted industries
  • Demographic and radial analysis for specified locations/industries
  • Applications to the UCF Business Incubator when appropriate
  • Startup Quest eight week program through CareerSource
  • Economic gardening resources such as CEO roundtable opportunities and strategic research services
  • Development of brochures and other literature

  • Site selection for your growing business
  • Workforce training programs and grants
  • Development of new technology through Federal programs in conjunction with and utilizing the experience of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and the Florida High Tech Corridor (SBIR/STTR)
  • Exploration of foreign trade, both in exporting and providing leads in conjunction with the U.S. Department of Commerce and Enterprise Florida (Gold Key Program)
