Volusia County and the State of Florida:
Preliminary Volusia County unemployment statistics for September 2017 have been released by the U.S. Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics, Local Area Unemployment Statistics Program. They show the civilian labor force at 253,305; total employment at 244,124 and total unemployment at 9,181 indicating an unemployment rate of 3.6 percent.
Florida's Workforce. Among U.S. states, Florida ranks as the 4th largest "cyber-state" for high-tech employment (CompTIA).
Deltona-Daytona Beach-Ormond Beach MSA ranked #4 on FORBES 2017 List of Fastest Growing Cities.
Florida ranks among the nation’s Top 10 on the Small Business Survival Index, Kauffman Index of Startup Activity and High Growth Company Density, all of which provide a key gauge for entrepreneurial success. The state hosts a variety of tech incubators, accelerators and university-based research hubs.
Florida has no personal income tax.
