Microflex expansion prepares for increased automotive manufacturing

As the world struggles through its economic challenges, one local company has invested heavily in the future, especially the future of the automotive industry.

Microflex Inc., an Ormond Beach manufacturer of automotive components, parts and assemblies, is in the midst of an ambitious expansion of its manufacturing complex to
position the firm for continued growth as an Original Equipment Manufacturer for the world’s leading automotive companies.

“We have earned a spot among the reliable OEMs for many industries and we look forward to increasing our presence in the worldwide automotive industry,” said John Atanasoski, who oversees automotive operations for Microflex. “In fact, our presence in the automotive industry has increased to the point we formed Microflex Automotive as a separate business unit to serve that industry exclusively with design, manufacturing and engineering services. That was a key factor in our decision to move ahead with expansion plans. Clearly, there is a slowdown in the automotive industry, but those manufacturers that are nimble and are marketing vehicles that ease the lives of today’s consumers will prosper, and we will help them do so.”

Since its formation in 1975,Microflex has become a leader in the manufacturing of flexible metal hose and braid, metallic expansion joints, bellows, and automotive components. The company has experienced rapid growth and serves many industries.

Brothers Josif and George Atanasoski founded Microflex in Connecticut. By 1980, they had relocated their operations to Florida. In 1984, the company moved to 35 acres on U.S. 1 in Ormond Beach, just north of Interstate 95. At that time, the brothers Atanasoski built a manufacturing complex of about 40,000 square feet. Two expansion projects since that time have increased the fully integrated manufacturing space of Microflex to 100,000 square feet.

Microflex designs, builds, and operates the world’s most advanced metal forming and braiding equipment. Among its employees are engineers who develop products specifically designed for quality and value in a variety of applications.

Microflex holds many manufacturing quality certifications, including ISO9001, which assure customers of an exact product.

Microflex particularly is active in the design and manufacture of products for the automotive and transportation industries. The company’s experience and knowledge are invaluable to the customers with high-tech applications with exacting specifications and extreme tolerances.

Microflex products are used across the nation and around the world. With expanded facilities on the horizon, the company plans to increase its stature as a preferred supplier to many of the world’s leading technology companies.

Construction is moving along nicely, according to Manager Scott Tobin of S.A.T. Development. Completion is slated within a few weeks.
