Ormond Beach software developer scores with iPhone apps, hardware
It was a chance meeting
between Olivier Hennessy and Clayton Kane, both passengers on a
small plane over the skies of Costa Rica. The two struck up a
conversation and quickly learned of each other’s fascination with
technology.
That was 2007.

Today they are
principles in a red-hot software company in Volusia County
that’s producing world-class technology products. The
company, PosiMotion, is in Ormond Beach, but its products
are in use all over the world.
“We’ve been in
business since early 2008 and it has been a great ride so
far,” said Hennessy, the firm’s chief executive officer.
PosiMotion is an innovative technology leader that develops,
designs and engineers breakthrough applications, programs
and devices. Among them are its G-Spot, G-Park, and G-Fi
products that have been hailed as leading edge and each
enhances the end-user experience.
Prior to forming
PosiMotion, Hennessy was a product design engineer for
Sonance and iPort, two leading producers of high-end,
integrated architectural home audio and video components. |

There, Hennessy created
structural, mechanical and industrial designs for a variety
of consumer electronic products. His work was recognized with many
national and international awards.
Hennessy’s partner is
Clayton Kane, who serves as chief technology officer for PosiMotion.
Kane’s prior work involved
research, development and marketing of high technology
solutions in the GPS (global positioning systems) and pedestrian
navigation categories for the private sector and the Department of
Defense and the Department of Homeland Security.
“Enabling the future of
user-friendly, location-based services is my passion and my
love for international adventure travel constantly inspires me to
share with others in
new ways,” Kane said.
While having so many
products on the market is impressive, where the products are
marketed is the more compelling story. Anyone with an iPhone,
Apple’s red-hot product that changed the mobile phone industry, or
an iPod Touch, Apple’s sleek and very portable handheld
entertainment device, is familiar with the ever-increasing
applications (“apps”) that can be downloaded directly and quickly
free or for modest fees.
Among those apps are
PosiMotion software, including two of the hottest apps in the iPhone
online “App Store”—G-Spot and G Park— and some of the App Store’s
bestselling
games including Pool, Solitaire Top 3, Backgammon, and Apache
Lander, which alone
has achieved more than 1 million downloads and counting.

G-Spot quickly shows iPhone
users which direction they are heading, pinpointing their
location on Google maps, sharing this information with others, and
vital information
such as latitude, longitude, heading, speed, accuracy, date and time
of the most recent
location update. It is the first navigation app that features an
auto-rotate map and a compass and speedometer right over the map.
G-Park shows where an phone
user parked his or her car and directions to get there, with easy-to
use interface for additional details such as making a note of a
numbered parking space or even taking a photograph of one’s car or a
helpful landmark in a parking lot. G-Park is featured
internationally on Apple’s iPhone TV commercial.
The apps were an instant hit
with iPhone users, causing Apple to take notice of PosiMotion.
Meanwhile, PosiMotion’s
hardware products are selling through the company’s web site and
various online distribution channels.
The company also has
produced a series of eight games for National Geographic.
Company officials are in negotiations with some of America’s leading
retailers, whose shelves soon could carry PosiMotion products.
