COUNTY COUNCIL APPROVES INCENTIVE TO MASTERS OF MARKETING -
Masters of Marketing, a New Jersey-based manufacturer of first aid
products, has announced its intentions to relocate to Volusia County. In
connection with the creation of 14 new jobs with average wages in excess
of $43,000 per annum, the Volusia County Council approved participation
in a Qualified Targeted Industries performance-based incentive to the
company. The County Council approved $11,200 which represents a
20-percent match against a total incentive of $56,000, or $4,000 per
job. The company is exploring options for a new 15,000-square-foot
facility in the Port Orange/New Smyrna Beach area. An unusual benefit to
the community is that Masters of Marketing utilizes disabled and
handicapped workers to assemble their products, and has arranged with
ARC to employ approximately 80 workers upon completion of the company’s
move, scheduled for April 2008.
VOLUSIA SCHOOLS HONORED BY FORD MOTOR COMPANY FUND - The Ford
Motor Company Fund has designated the Volusia County School District as
a "Career Academy Innovation Community at the Leadership Level.” Only
five communities in the United States are at this level. The Ford Motor
Company Fund conducted a rigorous evaluation of career preparatory
programs around the country prior to assigning this designation to
Volusia County Schools. The fund will support other districts around the
nation in developing programs and will rely on Volusia County Schools
for guidance and leadership. For more information about the Ford Motor

charitable, medical and moving purposes. Beginning Jan. 1, 2008, the

US AIRWAYS RETURNS TO DAYTONA BEACH – The announcement that US
Airways would begin service between Charlotte and Daytona Beach on Feb.
1, 2008 will bring the number of airlines serving Volusia County to
five. The new nonstop service includes three daily roundtrip flights
each way. In addition to being an important hub for US Airways, with
numerous domestic and international connections, Charlotte is a major
financial center and many large financial institutions have regional
headquarters there. Easier access to financial centers and the Carolina
research triangle will be a help to local companies. And, the link
between the two motorsport heavyweights – Daytona Beach and Charlotte –
also will likely boost traffic. Travelers can book flights at
www.usairways.com or by calling 800-428-4322. And to make it even easier
to travel from Daytona Beach International Airport, US Airways
passengers will get free parking at the airport for six months.
