LOCAL COMPANY NEEDS TO CONSOLIDATE – A Central Florida-based company is seeking to consolidate three locations and needs 13,000 to 15,000 square feet of air conditioned office and light industrial space. EDGEWATER POWER BOATS GIVES GIFT TO YMCA – The Southeast Volusia YMCA received a $50,000 donation from EdgeWater Power Boats, the largest ever given to the local organization. Peter Truslow, president of EdgeWater, said the company had been considering leaving Volusia County, but has decided to stay in Edgewater and expand at its current location. That decision prompted the gift as a longterm commitment to the area, and to the YMCA as one of the best resources in the area. DAYTONA BEACH COLLEGE WORKSHOPS – Daytona Beach College has announced that the Small Business Development Center will sponsor four business workshops in January. The first workshop, “Taking the Axe out of Business Taxes,” will be in DeLand on Tuesday, Jan. 8. The three remaining workshops will be in Daytona Beach – "How to Startup your own Business" (Jan. 9), "Where's the Money? EMBRY-RIDDLE WINS GRANT – The U.S. Department of Education has awarded a four-year grant of $879,596 to the Daytona Beach Campus of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. The funding will enable the school to assist 25 McNair Scholars from disadvantaged backgrounds for up to four years. The program is named after the late NASA astronaut Ronald E.
